The Mexican Hognose is not as common in the Pet Trade as the Western Hognose. As a matter of fact it is very rare to find Captive bred & born kennerlyi - anywhere. It is a valid subspecies with a few noticeable differences from the western hog. They have a more pointed rostril and a very unique pattern with double spots down theit backs. Their color is very different and they almost look grey to cream with a pink/rose colored belly that is speckled with some black. These rare hognose also have different habits from the western hognose in that they are summer breeders instead of spring breeders. I have eggs hatching from these up until Late October. A rare find in the hobby and mine come from an oustanding line of hogs from South Texas. A very small number of these will be available each Fall.
